RELEASE Momentum Builds as Chandra Earns Tri-County AFL-CIO EndorsementCleveland, Ohio - This week, members of the Tri-County AFL-CIO, comprised of over 1,800 union members from Medina, Portage, and Summit Counties, endorsed Subodh Chandra's candidacy for Ohio Attorney General in the Democratic Primary. Tri-County AFL-CIO Executive Secretary Treasurer John Wagner said that "As a former federal prosecutor and Cleveland Law Director, Chandra has a track record of using the law to fight for working men and women like those of the Tri-County AFL-CIO." The endorsement occurred at a general membership meeting on February 27, 2006. Following a speech by Chandra, members moved to endorse his candidacy and the motion carried with no objections. The Tri-County AFL-CIO has now endorsed both Democratic candidates for Attorney General. "I'm pleased to have the support of so many hard-working Ohioans who understand that the Ohio Attorney General's office should be the People's Law Firm, not an advocate for political campaign contributors. I look forward to working with the Tri-County AFL-CIO and using the full force of the Attorney General's office to protect working families from harm and loss." "Chandra has a clear vision for the Attorney General's office and communicates it perfectly," said Wagner. "He is a candidate of the highest caliber and brings charisma, diversity, and added excitement to the Democratic ticket." In addition to the Tri-County AFL-CIO, other notable Chandra endorsements include famed attorney David Boies, who represented Vice-President Al Gore in Bush v. Gore. Former Ohio Governor Dick Celeste endorsed Chandra last week, saying that he was the strongest choice in the Democratic Primary. # # # Contact: Keary McCarthy
