Support for Chandra Pours In From All Corners of Ohio:

Steelworkers and Hardin County Democrats Vote Unanimously to Endorse; Chandra Wins Athens County Dems Straw Poll

Cleveland, Ohio - Endorsements from all over Ohio poured in this weekend in support of Subodh Chandra, Democratic candidate for Ohio Attorney General. The United Steelworkers of America (USWA), Local 2L, and the Hardin County Democratic Party each voted unanimously to endorse Chandra. In Athens County, Democrats took a straw poll, resulting in an overwhelming victory for Chandra.

USWA Political Coordinator David Prentice said, "Chandra's experience as a former federal prosecutor, former law director, civil litigator, and legal-ethics professor makes him the most qualified and capable candidate in this race. We need his skill and experience to protect working Ohioans from further harm and loss."

USWA represents over 8,000 active and retired workers in the Summit County area. Prentice added that "When you are in trouble, as Ohio is, you need a skillful, intelligent, and experienced lawyer-not just a politician with a law degree."

Hardin County Democratic Party Chair Don Traxler agreed. He noted in a press release sent earlier today that, "Mr. Chandra, who was the keynote speaker at our President's Day Dinner, is a dynamic speaker and leader. He has a proven track record as a federal prosecutor and Law Director of the City of Cleveland."

In addition to these endorsements, Athens County Democrats also voiced their support for Chandra. On Saturday, they conducted a straw poll to determine support for various candidates. In the primary race for Attorney General, Athens County Democrats strongly support Chandra, 39 (74%) to 14 (26%). "Our straw poll is usually an accurate predictor of how things are going go in Athens County," said Athens County Democratic Party Chair Susan Gwinn.

Chandra said that he is overwhelmed by the outpouring of grassroots support for his candidacy. "In any fair, open, comparative process, Democrats choose my candidacy because they want to hire an accomplished lawyer and prosecutor to protect them. I am humbled by their confidence."

The list of organizations and individuals supporting Chandra's candidacy grows daily. On Thursday of last week, Chandra also received an endorsement from the Cleveland Stonewall Democrats. For more information on the endorsements Chandra has earned, please visit http://www.ChandraForOhio.com.
