Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson Endorses Chandra

City voters will play crucial role in primary; Warren County Democrats and others also endorse

Cleveland, Ohio - The momentum continues to build for Democratic Attorney General candidate Subodh Chandra as Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and others endorse his candidacy.

Mayor Jackson cited Chandra's work as Cleveland Director of Law as an example of how the Attorney General could be the People's Lawyer and run the People's Law Firm.

"As Council President, I sponsored legislation that we passed to protect our citizens from predatory lenders when the state failed to do so. When the Attorney General sought to undermine Cleveland's right to protect our citizens, Subodh Chandra led our fight in court and won. Subodh fought to protect the elderly and vulnerable of our city from loss. We need to hire an Attorney General with that kind of passion, integrity and real world experience."

Chandra welcomed the endorsement. "I am humbled by the confidence Mayor Jackson has shown in my candidacy and the shared vision we have about what the Attorney General's office can be. I am honored to have worked with him. Chandra added that "As I did for the citizens of Cleveland, I am dedicated to do the same for the citizens of Ohio as Attorney General."

The Warren County Democratic Party also announced their support for Chandra. Chairwoman Barbara Sizemore said that the endorsement reflects a growing enthusiasm for Chandra since his appearance at a Party dinner in October. "People have just never stopped talking about this dynamic, forthright man who took us all by surprise. When he speaks, he brings so much clarity to the issues," she said.

Chandra was also endorsed last week by Akron City Council President Marco Sommerville, Licking County Party Chair Mike King, and Newark Council President Marc Guthrie.
